Masonic Resume
Piers was made a Mason in England in 1979, and was active in a number of bodies before his work sent him to the United States in 1991. He settled in Manhattan and joined St. John's Lodge No.1, A.Y.M. He was impressed by its great history, and soon began to build the lodge by putting together a robust educational system, adding social events and building ritual excellence. The Lodge is now thriving and a major example of 'Traditional Observance' Masonry. He is a Past Master and Past Secretary of the Lodge, as well as being a Honorary Member of several other Lodges. He also served his District as AGL for two terms, as Chairman of the First Manhattan District. He retains his membership in his mother lodge, Knights of the Road Lodge No. 3673 in Brighton, England.
His interest in Masonry extends across most of the Masonic Bodies available. He is a member of the KYCH; having sat in the East of all four York Rite bodies, a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, a member of High Council of the SRIFC; Past Sovereign of Half Moon Council No. 2, AMD; Co-Founder, Past Master and Secretary of Novum Eboracum Chapel No. 51 of the Commemorative Order of St. Thomas of Acon; and an MSA in the Valley of New York City, AASR, among others. He is also a member of a number of overseas bodies, extending from Canada to Belgium, and he is currently Senior Warden of the Scottish Rectified Rite Lodge of St. George No. 5 in Oostende, Belgium, and a member of the CBCS in that country.
He has a passion for education, and has worked on many committees to this end, as well as lecturing and writing articles on many aspects of Masonry - predominantly the spiritual and esoteric aspects - across America and Europe. His lifetime of service in the Anglo-Catholic Church, as a singer, Parochial Church Council Member and Music Director, as well as his spiritual interests led him to seek ordination into the Independent Catholic Church tradition, and he is a Bishop in the Old Templar Church, and studying for an MA in Religious Studies with the Sophia School of Divinity with the Church of Antioch.
Outside of Masonry his interest in the esoteric and spiritual origins of initiation have led him to become a writer, and translator of note of early works, in particular French Masonic and Esoteric works of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Piers is an avid reader, photographer and traveler.
